Why this blog ?

Since my youth, I am passionate by African history and I have spent hours in studying theses cultures and civilizations. Coming from Rwanda, I was deeply interest in my country’s history and East African cultures. Through my readings, a name came back frequently : Kitara. This name designated an ancient empire which according to oral traditions and legends existed in the region several centuries ago. Curious and willing to know more about it, I started to research about this legendary entity, in order to understand the reality behind the myths.

Theses researches, made with differents kind of sources (scientific articles, oral traditions, ethnologic, linguistic and genetic studies, archaeologic researchs) allow me to discover the rich, incredible and unique history of the Kitara civilization, a great page of African history, unknown to the large public and still full of mysteries and questions.

The goal of this blog is to share the understanding I have of the history of this civilisation, to discuss with others passionates about African history and to make people know about the Kitara Empire.

This blog is not the blog of an historian of university professor, but more of an history lover. Within theses pages, I will try to bring a synthetic and coherent vision of Kitara history and surrounding East African regions, with the most reliable informations, and in the perspective of sharing informations on a little known subject.
